Sort of interesting that between my reading and his the sun set so thoroughly that the camera switched over into evening mode. As with many of the videos here, the sound level is low, so listen in a quiet place/at a quiet time.<br />

<br />
Laura Carter reading at the Arcade Taberna (I think Fall 2010)—Laura's audience was small (maybe four people) but included Nate Mackey and Joe Donahue. Intimate, rare. The sound is low, so I encourage you to do what you can to watch these when its quiet.<br />

This was our second reading. Fred tends to work in what I think of as panels, short page-long pulses or figures--for some reason today I thought of the photographer Robert Frank's "The Americans" and the way one has a sense that there is a figure he is after in each shot that the bodies and forms may or may not coincide with. Not that Fred's figures are suggested in this way, but that they are masked, mute after a fashion. The surfaces are flecked (inflected) with wonderful changes and stretches but compassed in and by this larger topic.<br /><br />"Hughson's Tavern"<br /><br />Fred Moten Pt. 1<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxN3Pz1UaPab__K_IE94-QN3w-vHmkoV6XEsChs5_oNAOLboF_ylmJbFtDEKP6bWoFT9hykNFylv_zgEAtcfg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /><br />Fred Moten Pt. 2<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxtvINpf_fwUiwy5d4JIfBuTa1LC9KmiFDhBBpM9GWkUUJwYD7GZOTVe4mir1iMcHMl1WPFufRk-BXut4DxiA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /><br />Fred Moten Pt. 3<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzv8pbHYbrcfjE4pvDQ6c2liOEO4FKeJ104eF8S_M61ljv6PG2bnKgR1xJAOMeXUc_zrmfSAYzLXD91fAt6uw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /><br />Fred Moten Pt 4<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwlACPmttKSjOillJROTL8zYfPgCaJfqjdBdLHDj8OoOBVuW2CBpCpxEH_mpgM_B8uA8AceBf-4iq6xtUpuTA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /><br />Fred Moten Pt. 5<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dw_aeSMAwhIT8u0gptftUBB_QV5-xoHYpWdFB4_vZhwM56VLk5ZrUSWamtdXrqpS69KQtqlSuQxkDdJsH9ubA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /><br />Fred Moten Pt.6<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dw4RdMmd4KNro9YiJ-hJIHYelDoMFyT4h0dsmyQr-ZymoOwl3R29QBtaWVz-E_viWaEK3kOlXDro0DO3q53FQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /><br />Fred Moten Pt. 7<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwWomj_85T7nXhZVqoEDQtt9qZZUEfj7qqYMQ8gau2-xokExZH8ECmpIC5aU7zzZjfcooazfLTw7Ql7qNhYEQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /><br />Fred Moten Pt. 8<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dynNHbepua0xRXd4M7SA-Ghd-7094bTrlx9_JHtsHZraEFnu_Dd406GWKap2_LTmTZQX-NkQZqXYQ4bV6Z5Ug' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe>David Needhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13417756356202264030noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7186396080404779468.post-76582009073671217642010-04-09T13:11:00.001-07:002010-04-09T13:58:58.978-07:00Tom Meyer on Epiphany 2010Tom Meyer read for us on Epiphany (Jan 6th) 2010.
